Abstract Metal powders are key to metal additive manufacturing technologies such as powder bed fusion. These feedstocks experience a range of forces and physical phenomena both during the fusion process additional post-processing stages that can alter their composition material properties. To evaluate effects, these need be characterized, tested, analyzed at critical lifecycles. This paper provides review current state art for evaluation methods applicability production. Methods categorized by properties they evaluate, either particulate or bulk Industry standards identified each method if applicable advantages disadvantages defined. Effects on flowability spreadability synthesized practical management guidelines aims providing an overview fusion, considerations development test programs, provide insights future research undertakings in field.
